Central African Republic Launch $CAR Memecoin to Boost National Development

The Central African Republic launched a memecoin, $CAR, for national development, but deepfake concerns and a suspicious domain registration cloud its legitimacy, despite a trader's massive profit.

The Central African Republic (CAR), launched $CAR memecoin, a memecoin designed not as a fleeting internet fad, but as a tool for national development and international recognition. This initiative, announced by President Faustin-Archange Touadera,

The official unveiling of $CAR, which debuted on the Solana-based launchpad Pump.fun on February 9th, 2025, market capitalization soared to a remarkable $600 million before experiencing fluctuations typical of the memecoin market.

AI Deepfake Detection of $CAR

Deepfake concerns delayed the $CAR memecoin project launch. AI deepfake detection models flagged President Touadera’s launch video as potentially fabricated. Deepware, for example, assigned an 82% probability of it being a deepfake. Although Avatrify and Deepware’s checker found no issues, doubts about the video’s authenticity remain.

Suspicions heightened because of the car.meme domain registered on Namecheap just three days before the official announcement—a suspiciously short timeframe for a government-backed initiative. Namecheap subsequently suspended the domain, labeling the service “abusive.”

Despite the controversy, the CAR government claims it securely locked the memecoin’s token supply. The official website outlines the token distribution, emission groups, and release schedule, aligning with the national development strategy.

The $CAR memecoin’s future and its role in the Central African Republic’s crypto plans remain uncertain. The video’s questionable authenticity and the rushed domain registration cast doubt on the project’s legitimacy.

Trader Pulls Massive Profits

An anonymous trader leveraged an initial investment of $5,000 in Solana (SOL), and achieved a staggering 2450x return, generating over $12 million in profit within a timeframe of less than three hours.

The trader utilizing $25 worth of SOL, valued at approximately $5,000 at the time of purchase, the individual acquired 46.57 million CAR tokens. This transaction occurred within a single second of a public announcement presumably via a tweet from an influential figure, @FA_Touadera, containing the contract address of the CAR token.

Notably, the subsequent sale of 22.65 million CAR tokens yielded 8,395 SOL, converting to roughly $1.67 million at the prevailing exchange rate. The remaining 23.92 million CAR tokens retained a value of approximately $10.5 million, resulting in a total return exceeding $12 million. This represents a return on investment of 2450x—a feat rarely seen in even the most lucrative of investment endeavors.
